Insurance

We are pleased to be able to offer our members an exclusive rate of insurance with Oxygen. This policy provides, as standard, up to £10 million for claims against you for causing death, bodily or personal injury and property damage (other than those arising from Malpractice). There is a choice of three limits of indemnity for other civil claims (including those arising from Malpractice) with an option to extend cover to include Employer‟s Liability.

Cost of Protection

The cost of insurance depends on the choice of Civil Liability Limit. So in addition to the standard £10 million cover, these are the specific options for Civil Liability cover:

  • £1.5 million at £61.00
  • £3 million at £71.00
  • £5 million at £101.00

(The £1.5 million option is available to Students at £41.00)

These rates apply to UK based members of Focus Exercise Professionals.

The chosen limit applies to each and every claim and the cost is the total annual cost including tax.

Unlike some providers of Profes- sional Liability Insurance, we do not charge an “admin‟ or “underwriting‟ fee.

The Primary Cover

The policy is a full Civil Liability insurance and its primary purpose is to defend any civil claims that might be made or threatened against you and/or to indemnify you for settlement costs should any such claim succeed.

To obtain similar cover, it would be necessary to arrange Public and Product Liability insurance, and Professional Indemnity and/or Malpractice Insurance (extended to include defamation). Even then, because of the nature of these policies, it is likely that there would be gaps in cover.

Our policy takes the “civil liability approach” to ensure that gaps between policies are avoided.

Policy Benefits

Complaints & Disciplinary Hearings
The policy will respond to help you if a complaint is made about you to a professional body or regulator in connection with your business or professional activities. The insurers will provide funding for the services of a professional conduct consultant who will help formulate a response to the complaint. If necessary, the insurers will also provide funding for advice and representation at, and leading up to, a disciplinary hearing including, with their agreement, any appeal.
