A £13.5m scheme is being launched by Sport England, aiming to train 17,000 PE teachers, following research which found that almost 20% of secondary school pupils hate PE lessons.

A survey released by Active Lives in March 2018 found that more than a quarter of UK adults are “inactive”, and Sport England want to ensure that pupils leave secondary school with an active lifestyle.

The scheme aims to train teachers in new activities from zumba to volleyball.
